Hello, my name is Ken. I was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from University of British Columbia and a Master’s degree in Business Administration at the Heriot Watt University (Edinburgh, Scotland). I have been in the Operational Management field for the past fifteen years. I have managed teams in Accounting, Finance, Office Administration, Information Technology, Human Resources, and Facilities Management. I have worked in the private sector, the public sector, and the not for profit world. My interests include travelling the world, running, and playing with my very fat cat named “Pretty Girl” or “PG” for short.
I am currently taking PIDP 3260 because I want to complete the Provincial Instructors Diploma program at Vancouver Community College. I have taken 3100 and 3220 so far. I want to become a Business Educator in one of the local universities or colleges in the lower mainland. I am looking for a career change as I find that I have maximized my potential in the business world. I am not being challenged in my career and am being increasingly bored in my career. I am looking into making a career change. I believe that I can contribute to student learning by adding my practical business experience to the textbook and theories in the classroom. Also, I feel that I can help students become aware of the potential careers that currently exist in the business world. I have noticed that students are not following their passions and are not looking at the vast number of careers that do not a lot of exposure. My goal is to teach first and second year students in business in any of the local universities or colleges.
